Winner: Bracken Store Cafe, by a 5 to 1 vote.

Inconsistency costs Lord's the round. Now I'm never one to vote against the Lord, but on our trip to Lord's in this round of the tournament I was left with no choice. My burger looked heavenly, but upon taking my first bite I noticed something was lacking, seasoning. But to my dismay, a few bites later I hit a salt mine. My burger was underseasoned in parts and overseasoned in others. I've never experienced this before at a burger joint and I was sad to see it happen to Lord's in the first round. On the other hand, Bracken brought out a beautiful burger: cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and consistently, and juicy where it's supposed to be juicy. My vote, as you can tell, was for Bracken. Here are the bloggers' impressions and votes (sorry for the lack of participation in the blogger comments below, some bloggers ran out of steam to jot down their comments and will be appropriately counseled):

Prefers His Tots Tatered

Lord’s Kitchen

I have to say that I have worshiped at the altar of the Lord’s Kitchen several times and there is always one constant…that the quality is never consistent. Sometimes I go, and I truly have a religious experience. Other times, I start questioning my faith in the place as to whether to belongs at the top of SA’s best. Well, as Georgetown has showed us, you have to bring you’re a-Game every time or risk being upset.

This is a damn good burger, period. Fresh ingredients, check. A big, juicy patty, check. Buttery, greasy buns that run down your arm, check. Bracken sure is peaking at the right time and takes this matchup in a close one. This could be a sleeper.

Winner - Bracken
